Most players and coaches understand that in order to reach the next level of the sport (whichever level that may be) - you must be a combination of (1) talented (2) hard working and (3) lucky. Each athlete requires a unique combination of the three to achieve their goals.

#1: Talented

Let’s get this out of the way - your players aren’t talented enough to rely solely on natural ability. There’s a very short list of players that fall into the category of supremely talented. These players are so gifted that they climb easily to the next level over and over again, eventually to have hall of fame professional careers. Ted Williams, Tony Gwynn, Nolan Ryan, Ken Griffey Jr., David Ortiz, etc…but zoom in on these athletes and you’ll find that all of them put in far more than the bare minimum to achieve their success. It may have been easier for them, but it wasn’t easy. This leads us to number two...

#2: Hard Working

Easier to quantify and understand, and a trait that all great players share. Regardless of your talent level, the game will surpass it eventually, even when playing at the highest level. The amount of work needed to reach the next level will vary by athlete, but hard work is a non-negotiable and something that all aspiring athletes must understand.

#3: Lucky

While luck comes in many forms, all athletes will experience bouts of good and bad luck in their careers - and it’s difficult to measure which one wins out. However, through consistent hard work, it is possible to maximize your opportunity to be lucky . For example, by completing a daily mobility and flexibility routine can decrease the likelihood of getting hurt and maximizing your opportunities on the field. You afforded yourself the opportunity to get lucky and avoid injury - and then you can make the most of an opportunity in front of a college scout that came to the game.

So talent is known, hard work is necessary regardless of talent, and luck is a product of both. What does this mean for athletes?

It means that athletes must work hard and on the right things. An athlete’s effort can be wasted if unorganized, inconsistent, or incorrect.

This is where coaches enter the picture. Players lean on their coaches to provide them with sound coaching and steer them in the correct direction - all the while coaches face challenges like high player-to-coach ratios, limited practice time, and disorganization that make tracking their efforts for each player difficult. It’s tough to coach!

So, we decided to build an easy way for coaches to provide tailored development programs to their athletes. These programs may encompass anything that coaches wish to share (strength training, skill work, mobility, etc.), granting them unlimited opportunities to build programs for their athletes to consistently work hard on the right things, and keep everything organized. With complete flexibility – coaches have the freedom to customize each element, ensuring a personalized approach for every athlete.

For players, the benefits are equally compelling. They seamlessly receive targeted programs directly on their devices via their TFA accounts. Those who understand that reaching the next level requires training beyond scheduled practice now have a resource to do so in a purposeful and organized manner and can track their efforts along the way.
